Afghan Refugee Action Meeting – October 2021

It’s time to rally!

Tulsa is expecting to welcome roughly 800 Afghan refugees. Some have already made it, while the majority are on their way.

Unite My City is helping to coordinate a meeting to further connect churches and organizations in the Tulsa area who wish to respond and help these Afghan families settle into their new homes.

What to Expect:

You’ll hear directly from a panel of leaders who are helping to facilitate the arrival of these families as well as those in our city who have worked and lived in Afghanistan.

Learn practical ways you can help and hear discussion on topics such as:

  • Short-term and long-term needs
  • Resources already available
  • Volunteers needed
  • Cultural Training Resources
  • And more…

Who Is This For?

Anyone who is already involved, planning to be involved, or wants to learn more about helping Afghan refugees in Tulsa. Our goal is to connect with one another to increase collaboration.

For 52 years World Compassion has worked to take the message of Jesus to nations hostile to the Gospel. Afghanistan has historically been one of our target nations. Over the past 12 years we have also helped facilitate a movement in the Tulsa area called Unite My City – an effort to build a culture of unity among churches through relationship, prayer, worship and service.

This collaborative meeting was established to help further connect the local faith-based community to work together to help carry the load.

This project was not designed to circumvent those organizations with extensive experience with these types of situations like, Catholic Charities. Nor was this project designed to replace individual efforts already being initiated by various churches and organizations within our community. Rather, this project was designed to fulfill Jesus’ prayer for us in John chapter 17, “…that they may be brought to complete unity.” Many hands make light work and ensuring we work together will help us provide the best possible outcome.
